How to Improve Memory Loss with Diet

It is quite natural to think of improving the memory and to look out for ways to keep the memory intact. You can come across various drugs that claim to improve memory loss. But instead of following the drugs, it is better to follow a proper diet for improving memory loss. Moreover, the foods do not come with any side effects and contradictions. Foods that contain antioxidants, vitamins, Omega 3 and iron are known to improve memory loss. It has been established that the foods that contain antioxidants not only improve the immune system but also enhances the brain’s activities.

Vitamins are also known to be helpful in improving memory. Try to include Vitamin B, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E in the diet as they boost the memory and concentration power. It is known that B complex vitamins increase the production of red blood cells, which transports oxygen to the brain and other parts. Try to include whole grains, berries, leafy greens, brown rice, milk and red meats, which are rich in B complex vitamins.

While Vitamin B12 and Vitamin B6 are good protectors of the nervous system, Vitamin C is known to prevent certain health conditions that determine memory loss. Vitamin E protects cells and prevents destruction of fatty acids. This vitamin also helps in improving the circulation and also in repairing damaged cells. Memory and fish are related as fishes are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. The Omega 3 fatty acids contain EPA and DHA, which are known to build nerve tissues. Some fish like Sardine contain polyunsaturated fats that are considered good for memory.

Another important aspect that one has to include in his diet are foods that contain high amounts of iron. This element is a determining factor in maintaining concentration. Studies have shown that school children with iron deficiency performed poorly. It was also seen that these students had difficulty in learning, thinking and recalling. Well, include whole grain cereals, beef, breads, raisins and dried apricots in the diet that supplies iron.

Though eating more sugar is considered unhealthy, it helps in improving memory loss. Glucose, a variety of sugar is needed by the brain to function properly. Studies have shown that glucose if taken in the right proportion can improve memory loss as well as increase other brain conditions like thinking, learning and recalling. It has been seen that sugar is good for older people to arrest memory loss. Well, if glucose is taken in excess, it can affect the brain and memory. Your diet may include blueberries, cantaloupe, asparagus, kale, black currants and sweet potatoes, which help in boosting energy, improving blood circulation and overall improving memory and other brain conditions. It is also good to include tomatoes, watermelon, cherries, and strawberries, red cabbage and radishes in the diet.

Eating a healthy food that contains vitamins and nutrients helps in improving memory loss. Rather than going after the drugs, which claim to improve memory loss, it is always better to have a healthy diet for good memory and concentration

  • To stop ice cream drips put a miniature marshmallow at the bottom of the cone.

  • Stop your potatoes from budding by putting an apple in the bag along with the potatoes.

  • To avoid eggshells from cracking, add a pinch of salt to the water before hard-boiling the eggs.

  • To avoid stains on your Tupperware utensils coat with non-stick cooking spray.

  • Fill your room with a lovely scent by simply spraying perfume on the light bulb. The fragrance will spread to every corner of the room when the light is turned on.

  • Clean your artificial flowers by putting some salt into a paper bag and then put the flowers. Now shake the bag vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt and make your artificial flowers look like new.

How to Cure Swine Flu Using Ayurveda Natural Remedies

Ayurveda treats Flu by removing its root cause and giving permanent relief. Symptoms of Swine Flu are similar to those of regular Flu which include fever, cough, sore throat, headache, chills, body aches and fatigue, diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.

step 1)
UNDERSTAND THE CAUSE -
In Ayurvedic philosophy, the three dynamic forces or doshas, "Vaat" (wind / spirit / air), "Pitta" (bile / acids) and "Kapha" (phlegm / mucus) form harmonious balance to provide good health. Swine Flu results from an imbalance of the "Kapha" and "Vaat" doshas. Cold is developed due to excess of "Kapha", while excess of "Vaat" reduces gastric fire and results in Chill.

Step 2)
BALANCE "KAPHA" -
There are herbal remedies which you can apply to balance Kapha. The best and effective pathogen destroyers are herbs like Garlic and also Cinnamon, basil leaves and Cloves. Grind these herbs to powder in a blender and add to boiled water in a cup. You may add little sugar for taste. Drain the water into another cup and drink it.

Step 3)
BALANCE "VAAT" -
Ayurvedic doshas can be balanced by the principles of opposites. So the problems occuring through "Vaat", like dryness, coolness, gastric fire can be balanced by proper diet consisting of food cooked using olive oil, cooked warm vegetables, warm milk, dried fruits, citrus fruits and sweet potatoes. Indian Basmati rice along with cooked vegetables and spices is a good choice for lunch or dinner. The three tastes, i.e. Sweet, sour and salty help balance "Vaat" dosha.

Step 4)
INHALATION TECHNIQUES USING HERBAL REMEDIES -
Tulsi leaves (Basil), Ginger and Eucalyptus are the three most essential and universal herbs in Ayurveda with medicinal properties. Inhalation techniques using herbs work very well in loosening mucus and providing permanent relief from cold. Add these essential herbs in boiling water and inhale deeply the herbal steam for about 15 minutes. Cover your head and the sides for not allowing the steam to escape.

Step 5)
NETI TECHNIQUE -
Follow "Neti" technique to permanently get rid of any Sinus infections you may have. Neti technique works by performing nasal irrigation using water containing salt and / or baking soda through a specially designed Neti pot. These kits are available at any pharmacy store for about $15.
Though not essential for containing Swine Flu infections, the effects will always complement all other Ayurvedic techniques.

Step 6)
In case of severe Flu symptoms, take about 1 tbsp of honey and mix it with 1/2 tbsp Cinnamon powder and consume for 5 days. This will cure cold, cough as well as sinuses. The natural ingredients are very effective in killing influenza viruses. It will also develop your natural immune system to fight against viruses and bacteria.

Swine flu

What is swine flu?
Like people, pigs can get influenza (flu), but swine flu viruses aren't the same as human flu viruses. Swine flu doesn't often infect people, and the rare human cases that have occurred in the past have mainly affected people who had direct contact with pigs. But the current "swine flu" outbreak is different. It's caused by a new swine flu virus that has changed in ways that allow it to spread from person to person -- and it's happening among people who haven't had any contact with pigs.

That makes it a human flu virus. To distinguish it both from flu viruses that infect mainly pigs and from the seasonal influenza A H1N1 viruses that have been in circulation for many years, the CDC calls the virus "novel influenza A (H1N1) virus" and the World Health Organization calls it "pandemic (H1N1) 2009." The CDC calls swine flu illness "H1N1 flu" and the World Health Organization calls it "pandemic influenza A (H1N1)."

What are swine flu symptoms?
Symptoms of swine flu are like regular flu symptoms and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Many people with swine flu have had diarrhea and vomiting. Nearly everyone with flu has at least two of these symptoms. But these symptoms can also be caused by many other conditions. That means that you and your doctor can't know, just based on your symptoms, if you've got swine flu. Health care professionals may offer a rapid flu test, although a negative result doesn't necessarily mean you don't have the flu.

Like seasonal flu, pandemic swine flu can cause neurologic symptoms in children. These events are rare, but, as cases associated with seasonal flu have shown, they can be very severe and often fatal. Symptoms include seizures or changes in mental status (confusion or sudden cognitive or behavioral changes). It's not clear why these symptoms occur, although they may be caused by Reye's syndrome. Reye's syndrome usually occurs in children with a viral illness who have taken aspirin -- something that should always be avoided.

Only lab tests can definitively show whether you've got swine flu. State health departments can do these tests. But given the large volume of samples coming in to state labs, these tests are being reserved for patients with severe flu symptoms. Currently, doctors are reserving antiviral drugs for people with or at risk of severe influenza.

Who is at highest risk from H1N1 swine flu?
Most U.S. cases of H1N1 swine flu have been in older children and young adults. It's not clear why, and it's not clear whether this will change.

But certain groups are at particularly high risk of severe disease or bad outcomes if they get the flu:

Young children, especially those under 12 months of age .
Elderly people are at high risk of severe flu disease. But relatively few swine flu cases have been seen in people over age 65.

People with cardiovascular conditions (except high blood pressure)
People with liver problems
People with kidney problems
People with blood disorders, including sickle cell disease
People with neurologic disorders
People with neuromuscular disorders
People with metabolic disorders, including diabetes
People with immune suppression, including HIV infection and medications that suppress the immune system, such as cancer chemotherapy or anti-rejection drugs for transplants
Residents of a nursing home or other chronic-care facility
People in these groups should seek medical care as soon as they get flu symptoms.

A striking number of adults who developed severe swine flu complications have been morbidly obese. However, obesity itself does not seem to be the issue. The vast majority of extremely obese people suffer respiratory problems and/or diabetes, which seem to be the underlying reason for their severe flu complications.

Children should be given urgent medical attention if they:
Have fast breathing or trouble breathing
Have bluish or gray skin color
Are not drinking enough fluid
Are not waking up or not interacting
Have severe or persistent vomiting
Are so irritable that the child does not want to be held
Have flu-like symptoms that improve but then return with fever and a worse cough
Have fever with a rash
Have a fever and then have a seizure or sudden mental or behavioral change.

Adults should seek urgent medical attention if they have:
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
Sudden dizziness
Confusion
Severe or persistent vomiting
Flu-like symptoms that improve, but then come back with worsening fever or cough.

How does swine flu spread? Is it airborne?
The new swine flu virus apparently spreads just like regular flu. You could pick up germs directly from droplets from the cough or sneeze of an infected person, or by touching an object they recently touched, and then touching your eyes, mouth, or nose, delivering their germs for your own infection. That's why you should make washing your hands a habit, even when you're not ill. Infected people can start spreading flu germs up to a day before symptoms start, and for up to seven days after getting sick, according to the CDC.

The swine flu virus can become airborne if you cough or sneeze without covering your nose and mouth, sending germs into the air. Ferret studies suggest that swine flu spreads less easily by small, airborne droplets than does seasonal flu. But it does spread by this route, and it may begin to spread even more readily as the new virus fully adapts to humans.

The new swine flu virus is a human virus spread by people and not by pigs. The only way to get the new swine flu is from another person.

How can I prevent swine flu infection?
The CDC recommends taking these steps:

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Or use an alcohol-based hand cleaner if soap and water are not available.
Avoid close contact -- that is, being within 6 feet -- with people who have flu-like symptoms.
Avoid touching your mouth, nose, or eyes. That's not easy to do, so keep those hands clean.
If you have flu-like symptoms -- fever plus at least cough or sore throat or other flu symptoms -- stay home for seven days after symptoms begin or until you've been symptom-free for 24 hours -- whichever is longer.
Wear a face mask (consider using an N95 respirator) if you must come into close contact with a sick person. "Close contact" means within 6 feet. Note: There is no definitive proof that a face mask prevents flu transmission. Do not rely solely on a face mask to prevent infection.
Wear an N95 respirator if helping a sick person with a nebulizer, inhaler, or other respiratory treatment. Note: There is no definitive proof that a respirator prevents flu transmission. Do not rely solely on a respirator to prevent infection.
People who have or are suspected of having swine flu should wear a face mask, if available and tolerable, when sharing common spaces with other household members, when outside the home, or when near children or infants.
Breastfeeding mothers with swine flu symptoms should express their breast milk, and the child should be fed by someone else.

Should I wear a face mask or respirator?
Short answer: Maybe. Face masks and respirators may very well offer extra protection, but should not be your first line of defense against either pandemic or seasonal flu.

Every day, newspapers carry pictures of people wearing face masks to prevent swine flu transmission. But very little is known about whether face masks actually protect against the flu.

There's a difference between a face mask and a respirator. A face mask does not seal tightly to the face. Face masks include masks labeled as surgical, dental, medical procedure, isolation, or laser masks. Respirators are N95- or higher-rated filtering face pieces that fit snugly to the face. Respirators filter out virus particles when correctly adjusted -- which is not as simple as it sounds. But it's hard to breathe through them for extended periods, and they cannot be worn by children or by people with facial hair.

People who have flu-like symptoms should carry disposable tissues to cover their coughs and sneezes. When going out in public, or when sharing common spaces around the home with family members, they should put on a face mask -- if one is available and tolerable.

People not at risk of severe flu illness can best protect themselves from swine flu with frequent hand washing and by staying at least 6 feet away from people with flu symptoms. But if swine flu is circulating in the community, a face mask or respirator may be protective in crowded public places.

People at increased risk of severe flu illness -- pregnant women, for example -- should add a face mask to these tried-and-true precautions when providing assistance to a person with flu-like illness. And anyone else who cannot avoid close contact with someone who has swine flu (if you must hold a sick infant, for example) may try using a face mask or respirator.

The World Health Organization has declared swine flu to be a pandemic. That means that all nations can expect to see swine flu infections -- and should prepare for them -- but does not mean the virus has become more severe.

The H1N1 swine flu outbreak came at the end of the U.S. flu season. The virus spread across the nation and around the globe in the spring and summer, seasons when flu usually ebbs to nearly undetectable levels in the Northern Hemisphere.

In the Southern Hemisphere, most nations have seen large numbers of H1N1 swine flu cases. Fortunately, there's no sign that the pandemic flu bug has become more deadly, more resistant to new flu drugs, or less likely to be stopped by the H1N1 swine flu vaccine now in production.

Nobody knows how bad the swine flu will be during the Northern Hemisphere flu season. But the CDC is warning Americans to prepare for a bad flu season this fall. It's better to over-prepare and look a little silly if nothing happens than to be unprepared for an emergency.

Urine infection.

Urine infections are caused by infections in the urinary tract and that is why it is known as urinary tract infections. It is a severe problem, which strikes a lot of people every year, and it is the second most ordinary infection, which takes place in a person. For some reason or the other, women have more chances of getting this infection in comparison to men.

Usually, urine contains waste products, salts and fluids but it is germ-free i.e. it does not contain fungi, viruses and bacteria. When small organisms from the digestive tract stick to the opening of the urethra and begin to reproduce there, an infection will take place. The tube, which passes on the urine outside the body from the urinary bladder, is known as urethra.

In most cases, bacteria called Escherichia coli or E.coli cause the infection. There are some people whose likelihood of developing this infection is more than the others. Those people who have certain disorders (which restrain the immune system) have more chances of developing urinary tract disorder. One such disorder is diabetes. Studies have reported that those who have had this infection before can also have it again. In order words, this infection can be recurring in nature.

Some of the symptoms of urine tract infections are:

•Urinating frequently.
•Pain in the region of the urethra or the bladder.
•Urine may look milky.
•Only little urine is passed.
•Uneasy pressure on top of the pubic bone.

Generally, urine tract infection is caused when bacteria enters the urinary tract through the urethra. When these bacteria get into the urethra, they move up the body and caused infection in the urinary bladder and other parts of the urinary tract. Indulging one self in sexual activity can also lead to such infections. Women who have sexual intercourse on a regular basis are more prone to urinary tract infection in comparison to other women. One other cause for this infection is waiting for a long time and then going to the toilet to urinate.

Home Remedies for Urine Infection
Ayurvedic Remedies
Some of the useful ayurvedic remedies to treat urinary tract infections are:

•Consume juice of cranberry. However, if you want, you can add some apple juice to it also.
•Take in half a teaspoon of tincture each and every hour if you have serious urinary tract infection.
•Take sandalwood oil, juniper oil, tea tree oil, bergamot oil and frankincense oil and mix them together (same quantity). Gently massage the region of the bladder with this oil. Do this for a minimum of three days.
•Drink a lot of water every day, at least eight glasses. This will ensure that the bacteria are flushed out of the body through the urine. However, you should not consume spicy foods, coffee or alcohol when you are suffering from this infection

Everyday power eating.

We all think so much about what we eat, but do you ever wonder about when to eat? For example, is it good to eat before exercise? Right after? To have an early dinner or eat right before bed?
It turns out that when you eat can have a great effect on whether and how your body can use the food effectively. So, when planning meals, use these simple guidelines.

The Basics
First keep in mind the very basics: Foods are composed of protein, carbohydrates and fat, the three energy nutrients. Each plays a specific role in the functioning of our body.

•Carbohydrates provide quick energy but are not stored well in the body.
Examples are breads, cereals, pasta, rice, bagels, crackers, fruit, fruit juice, vegetables and legumes.
•Protein is used primarily for building muscle and other body parts.
Examples include chicken, beef, pork, legumes, soy products, nuts, seeds and eggs.
•Fat is a long-term storage form of energy.
Fats are found in butter, meats, margarine, mayonnaise, fried foods and some salad dressings.

In addition to those main elements, foods also contain vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients that keep us healthy, full of energy and focused on the task at hand.

•Breakfast: Choose carbohydrates and protein to jump-start your day and feed your brain. Good choices include:
◦whole-grain cereal, low-fat milk and fresh fruit
◦a sandwich, fruit and glass of milk
◦for speed, go for a blender smoothie made of yogurt and fruit
◦if lunch isn't for hours, try a larger breakfast (add toast with peanut butter to the cereal and fruit) or try a hot cooked cereal that packs staying-power

•Lunch should include a good protein source to help keep your body functioning throughout the afternoon. Avoid the tendency to overeat or to eat high-fat foods, which cause fatigue. Good choices include:
◦vegetable salad with kidney and garbanzo beans and a whole-grain roll
◦a sandwich on whole-grain bread with raw veggies on the side
◦hearty soup (full of veggies, rice or pasta, and legumes or chicken), whole-grain crackers and a piece of fruit
◦pasta salad with veggies and legumes with a fruit salad .

•Your evening meal should be the smallest of the day, unless you're working the 3-11 shift! Think small portions of great-tasting food, and use the time to catch up with the rest of the family instead of consuming too-large portions and more calories than necessary. If you haven't had at least five servings of fruit or vegetables by dinnertime, load up on these healthful foods and decrease portions of meat, chicken, or other protein.

•Before a workout choose foods high in carbs for energy and low in fat for quick digestion. Instead of a sugar-laden energy or cereal bar, try these:
◦fresh fruit and yogurt
◦sandwich with a low-fat filling such as turkey (easy on the mayo)
◦low-fat string cheese and a glass of juice

•After a workout, especially if you're trying to maintain or lose weight, avoid the urge to eat anything. Instead, drink lots of water and train your body to wait for the next meal.

•Before bed, avoid high-sugar foods or anything containing fat. Instead, focus on relaxing carbohydrates such as:
◦a glass of skim milk and 2-3 crackers
◦low-fat yogurt
◦fruit salad .

Sunscreen, a must use for every women!

Sunscreen (also known as sunblock)is a lotion, spray, gel or other topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation on the skin exposed to sunlight and thus helps protect against sunburn.

Sunscreens contain one or more UV filters of which there are three main types:

  1. Organic chemical compounds that absorb ultraviolet light (such as oxybenzone, a suspected photocarcinogen)

  2. Inorganic particulates that reflect, scatter, and absorb UV light (such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or a combination of both).

  3. Organic particulates that mostly absorb light like organic chemical compounds, but contain multiple chromophores, may reflect and scatter a fraction of light like inorganic particulates, and behave differently in formulations than organic chemical compounds

The most important product to prevent your skin from wrinkles and skin cancer. Sunscreen reduces the harmful effects of the sun on your skin. The word that comes to mind when one talks about sunscreen is SPF. What exactly is SPF?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The higher the SPF, the more protection it provides. The SPF 10 sunscreen allows a person to stay out in the sun 10 times longer.

Apply sunscreen daily. It takes around 20 minutes for your skin to absorb the sunscreen. So apply it 20 minutes before you go out. Reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours when you are in the sun. Sunscreen should be the last thing you apply on your skin. In other words apply your moisturizer before your sunscreen.

Apply sunscreen even in the winters when its not very sunny. The sun's UV rays are always effecting your skin and they are always there during the day time even when is not very sunny.

Beetroot juice gives stamina a boost.

Drinking beetroot juice boosts your stamina, concludes a new study, which adds that the magical drink can help you exercise for up to 16 percent longer.
The University of Exeter led-study has for the first time shown how the nitrate contained in beetroot juice leads to a reduction in oxygen uptake, making exercise less tiring.

The study reveals that drinking beetroot juice reduces oxygen uptake to an extent that cannot be achieved by any other known means, including training.

To reach the conclusion, research team conducted their study with eight men aged between 19 and 38. They were given 500ml per day of organic beetroot juice for six consecutive days before completing a series of tests, involving cycling on an exercise bike. On another occasion, they were given a placebo of blackcurrant cordial for six consecutive days before completing the same cycling tests.

After drinking beetroot juice the group was able to cycle for an average of 11.25 minutes, which is 92 seconds longer than when they were given the placebo. This would translate into an approximate 2 percent reduction in the time taken to cover a set distance. The group that had consumed the beetroot juice also had lower resting blood pressure.

The researchers are not yet sure of the exact mechanism that causes the nitrate in the beetroot juice to boost stamina. However, they suspect it could be a result of the nitrate turning into nitric oxide in the body, reducing the oxygen cost of exercise.

The research has been published in the Journal of Applied Physiology.

Say yes to CARROTS.

Carrots can be eaten in a variety of ways. The simplest way is raw as carrots are perfectly digestible without requiring cooking. Alternatively they may be chopped and boiled, fried or steamed, and cooked in soups and stews, as well as baby and pet foods. A well known dish is carrots julienne. Grated carrots are used in carrot cakes, as well as carrot puddings, an old English dish thought to have originated in the early 1800s. The greens are edible as a leaf vegetable, but are rarely eaten by humans, as they are mildly toxic. Together with onion and celery, carrots are one of the primary vegetables used in a mirepoix to make various broths.

Here are just some of the reasons you should make sure your child gulps down at least one glass of carrot juice a day.

  1. Carrots are excellent for the eyes.

  2. Carrots contains large quantities of vitamin A, in the form of beta carotene.

  3. Juicing a carrot removes the indigestible fiber. Thus, the nutrients in it are available to the body in much larger quantities than if the carrot was eaten whole. This is because many of the nutrients are trapped in the fibre, and while fibre aids digestion, some part of the fibre is indigestible. Thus, you don't get the benefits of the nutrients that are trapped in the indigestible fibre. Did you know that if you eat a carrot raw, you only get access to about 1% of the available beta carotene? But, when you or your child has a glass of carrot juice, you your system absorbs almost 100% or the beta carotene!

  4. Does your child drink more Pepsi or Coke than water? While you may feel that these are just sweetened substitutes, you are wrong. In fact, these beverages have substances that require more water to eliminate them from the system. So, whenever your child asks for a soft drink, give him juice instead. Juice increases the water intake.

  5. Carrot juice has anti-carcinogen properties. Thus, it helps prevent cancer. It is also believed to have cancer-curing properties.

  6. Beta carotene is an anti-oxidant, and thus it prevents cell degeneration. Anti-oxidants also slow down the ageing process. Another fruit which is an excellent anti-oxidant is the berry.

  7. Carrots are also good for the skin.

  8. Carrot juice is like a tonic. It will improve the overall health of you and your child, and increase immunity. In fact, two glasses of carrot juice a day can increase your immunity by as much as 70%!

  9. Carrot juice is rich in so many minerals, that it's no less than a miracle juice! You could also add some spinach or beetroot to your carrot juice. Squeeze some lime into the glass, add seasoning if you must, and a tasty glass packed with nutrients is ready!

Mascara application tips.

Minimalism is important in summer, like in no other season; the makeup is usually restricted to one product. Mascara is most commonly chosen and the application process transforms into a highly responsible one. Here are some tips which will help you have perfect makeup and make your eyes look ultimately expressive.

Remove Excess Mascara from the Brush
Imagine yourself standing at the mirror, you are holding mascara in your hands, and even have opened it already. Hold it! Check whether there is too much mascara on the brush. If so, remove the excess with a tissue. Do not be greedy since such “generosity” will result in nothing else but clots and weighted eyelashes.

Starting to Apply Mascara
Start from the upper eyelashes first; move the brush from the roots to the tips in a curling manner. While at it, look at first up and then to the side – this way you can cover the corner eyelashes better. Even if you do have some clots left in spite of all the effort you put into the process – remove them with a Q-tip.

Cover Eyelashes from Above
Let the mascara dry up a bit once you are done with the first layer and then carry on. Powder the eyelashes before the “second round” to give them some extra volume. Do not forget to cover them from above, especially if your eyelashes are naturally light-coloured. You may not notice the results of such negligence, but others surely will.

Comb Eyelashes
To complete the process comb the eyelashes with a special small comb. Hold it at the roots from below and then carefully turn it up.

Breathing therapy.

WHAT IS BREATH THERAPY?
Breath Therapy is an original healing art based on ancient Eastern disciplines, as well as modern Western methods. It represents a unique approach to wellness in spirit, mind and body. It was developed over the last 20 years, and it has proven itself to be effective in all psychosomatic illness, and as potent force in the worldwide human potential movement

“Breath Therapy techniques offer quick, effective ways to clear your head, to settle your stomach, to calm your nerves, and to open your heart.”

The nose has a left and a right side; we use both to inhale and exhale.
Actually they are different; you would be able to feel the difference.
The right side represents the sun, left side represents the moon.
During a headache, try to close your right nose and use your left nose to breathe.
In about 5 mins, your headache will be gone? If you feel tired, just reverse, close your left nose and breathe through your right nose.
After a while, you will feel your mind is refreshed.
Right side belongs to ‘hot’, so it gets heated up easily, left side belongs to ‘cold’.
Most females breathe with their left noses, so they get “cooled off” faster.
Most of the guys breathe with their right noses, they get worked up.
Do you notice the moment we wake up, which side breathes faster? Left or right? ?
If left is faster, you will feel tired.
So, close your left nose and use your right nose for breathing, you will get refreshed quickly.
This can be taught to kids, but it is more effective when practiced by adults.
My friend used to have bad headaches and was always visiting the doctor.
There was this period when he suffered headache literally every night, unable to study.
He took painkillers, did not work.
He decided to try out the breathing therapy here: closed his right nose and breathed through his left nose.
In less than a week, his headaches were gone! He continued the exercise for one month.
This alternative natural therapy without medication is something that he has experienced.
So, why not give it a try?

Color therapy.

The effects of color on our moods, health, and way of thinking have been studied by scientists for years. Even an individual's preference for one color over another may be related to the way that color makes the individual feel.
Color can be described as light "visible radiant energy" of certain wavelengths. Photoreceptors in the retina, called cones, translate this energy into colors. The retina contains three kinds of cones: one for blue, one for green, and one for red. We perceive other colors by combining these colors. According to Dr. Alexander Schauss, director of the American Institute for Biosocial Research in Tacoma, Washington, when the energy of color enters our bodies, it stimulates the pituitary and pineal glands. This in turn affects the production of certain hormones, which in turn affect a variety of physiological processes. This explains why color has been found to have such a direct influence on our thought, mood, and behavior; an influence that many experts believe is distinctly separate from psychological and cultural factors. Remarkably, color seems to have an effect even on blind people, who are thought to sense color as a result of energy vibrations created within the body.

Clearly, the color you choose for your clothes and for your home, office, car, and other surroundings can have a profound effect on you.
Colors have been known to ease stress, to fill you with energy, and even to alleviate pain and other physical problems. This idea, it should be noted, is far from new. In fact, the "color your world" concept is part of the ancient Chinese design technique feng shui. When selecting a color to effect a change in mood or to relieve discomfort, it is vital to choose the color suited to your particular objective.

BLUE
Blue has a relaxing, peaceful, and calming effect. Blue lowers the blood pressure, the heart rate, and respiration. In one study, children prone to aggressive behavior became calmer when placed in a blue classroom.
Blue has also been found to make people feel cool in hot and humid environments. To help relieve the pain of ulcers, back problems, insomnia, pain, rheumatism, and inflammatory disorders, surround yourself with blue, and focus your mind on the body part you want to heal while looking at the color. One good place to do this is in the countryside, where the blue of the sky and the water can impart a feeling of calming "oneness" with the universe.

GREEN
As another of nature's most abundant colors, green, like blue, has a soothing and relaxing effect on the body as well as on the mind. People who are depressed or anxious can benefit from green surroundings. Green also helps nervous disorders, exhaustion, heart problems, and cancer. When you are ill, try sitting on a hillside or by a green pasture, and focus on the body part you want to heal. Green may also be a good environmental color for the dieter.

VIOLET
Like blue and green, violet creates a peaceful environment. Violet also suppresses the appetite and is good for scalp and kidney problems and for migraine headaches.

RED
Red The color red stimulates, excites, and warms the body. Red increases the heart rate, brain wave activity, and respiration. The color of passion and energy, red is also good for impotence and frigidity, as well as for anemia, bladder infections, and skin problems. Those who have poor coordination should avoid wearing the color red. In addition, people suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure) should avoid rooms with a red decor, as this can cause their blood pressure to rise.
Conversely, red has a good effect on those with hypotension (low blood pressure).

PINK
Pink has a soothing effect on the body, relaxing the muscles. Because it has been found to have a tranquilizing effect on aggressive and violent people, pink is often used in prisons, hospitals, and juvenile and drug centers. Those suffering from anxiety or withdrawal symptoms can benefit from pink surroundings. Pink is also a good color for the bedroom, where it can help evoke feelings of romance.

ORANGE
Orange is the color of choice for stimulating the appetite and reducing fatigue. Use this color in place mats and tablecloths, for instance; to encourage a finicky eater or to pique the appetite of a person who is ill. This color should be avoided by those who are trying to lose weight. If you are feeling tired or run down try wearing an orange garment to lift your energy level. General weakness, allergies, and constipation may also improve.

YELLOW
Yellow is the most memorable of all the colors. Whenever you want to remember something, jot it down on yellow paper. This color also raises the blood pressure and increases the pulse rate, but to a lesser degree than red does. As the color of sunshine, yellow has an energizing effect; it can help relieve depression. A chromotherapist may use this color to treat muscle cramps, hypoglycemia, overactive thyroid, and gallstones.

BLACK
Black is a "power" color. Try wearing black clothes for a feeling of strength and self -confidence. Black also suppresses the appetite. If you want to lose weight, cover your dining table with a black tablecloth.

Green tea.

Green tea has been enjoyed by people in China and Japan for thousands of years. Over the time it has become widely known in the West.

A lot of people nowadays have heard that green tea benefits the overall health, but not a lot know why exactly. And believe me after I've learned all the health benefits of green tea, I get completely different feeling every time I drink it. I not only enjoy the taste of it but I also get the moral satisfaction knowing that I am doing something right and extremely healthy for my body. I want you to have exactly the same feeling I have, so here are the benefits that you get while sipping delicious cup of tea.

Green tea contains anti-oxidants that:

  • Helps to prevent cancer.
The is some strong evidence that green tea included in you every day diet can reduce bladder, colon, esophageal, pancreas, rectum, and stomach cancer up to 60%. An antioxidant known as "epigallocatechin gallate" (EGCG for short) is at least 100 more times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells from harmful influence.
The amazing thing about it that EGCG it not only inhibits the growth of new cancer cells it also kills some of the existing cancer sells without harming the healthy ones.
  • Lowers "bad" cholesterol (known as LDL) and improves the ratio of "good" cholesterol (known as HDL). It explains why tea-drinkers can eat almost twice the foods containing cholesterol as a those who don't drink green tea, but still have an equal cholesterol count.
  • Stops the unnatural formation of blood cloth which if not taken care of will cause thrombosis. It takes on added importance if you consider that thrombosis is one of the main causes of strokes and heart attacks.
  • Reduces high blood pressure by repressing angiotensin II which causes constriction of the blood vessels causing high blood pressure.
  • Lowers blood sugar (polyphenols and polysaccharides are the two main antioxidants are especially effective in lowering blood sugar). That helps prevent and relieve type-two diabetes.
  • Protects liver against toxins like alcohol and chemicals in cigarette smoke.
  • Promotes oral health by suppress the process of plaque formation and destroys the bacteria that forms plaque. It also destroys bacteria that causes bad breath, so after eating something sweet I suggest you drink a cup of green tea.
  • Destroys free radicals that cause aging.
  • Boosts your immune system function ( because of it's high concentration of polyphenols and flaveboids).
  • Possess antibacterial and antiviral properties. Recent studies show that green tea inhibits the spread of disease, speeds up recovery from cold and flu. It also kills seven strains of food poisoning bacteria including clostridium, botulus and staphylococcus (which makes it a good treatment for diarrhea).
  • Helps your body to maintain healthy fluid balance and relieve fatigue and stress often caused by dehydration.
  • Blocks main receptors that produce allergic reactions.
  • Stimulates metabolism, calorie burning process and is wildly being used as an important part of a healthy diet.

It is important to know that black tea, even though it comes from the same plant as a green tea, will not give you the same benefits. Black tea during fermentation process loses most of its medical benefits.

The best way to preserve all the disease-fighting nutritions is to drink your tea freshly brewed. All the decaffeinated, ready-to-drink bottled or instant teas will give you very little of natural health compounds. It is better to let your tea steep for about 4-5 minutes before drinking it.

Tomato.

The humble tomato is one item no kitchen shelf is ever without, no matter what the season or location. Perhaps this is why most of us take the tomato for granted and do not appreciate the tremendous health and beauty benefits it brings.

Not many of us relish getting pelted on the face with tomatoes, but believe it or not, tomatoes are excellent for the skin. In fact, as far as anti-ageing products go, tomatoes rank high on the list.

Tomatoes are rich in anti-oxidants and so they counter the ageing effects on the skin, by cutting out the number of free radicals in your body. Free radicals break down the support system for your hair and skin, so it makes sense to eat a tomato a day.

In addition, tomatoes help preserve moisture levels in the body. In the summer or winter, when our skin is exposed to artificial heating or cooling, moisture levels in our body fall. We need to constantly replenish this water supply, or our body will start sucking moisture from the skin and the hair. In addition to eating a tomato a day, it makes sense to drink no less than 10 to 12 glasses of water daily.

If your skin is oily, you can apply tomatoes to your face. It counters oily skin by absorbing surplus oil and also helps get rid of pimples and acne. Apply undiluted tomato paste to your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm, not hot, water. In addition, tomatoes also help lighten the complexion, especially if mixed with cucumber juice. This makes a great face mask for oily skin. Place a cucumber slice on each eyelid and cover the rest of your face with the mask, taking care to avoid the delicate under-eye area.

If your skin is dry, you can add some day-old curd to the tomato paste and then apply to your skin. Tomato masks have excellent anti-ageing properties, so start applying them once you cross the age of 25.

If your skin starts burning when you apply to tomato mask, wash it off. You should feel a gentle tingling sensation after applying the tomato but if it stings too much, you could wash it off and add curd before applying the mask.

Do you have a boil or a pimple? Apply tomato paste to it. The acids from the tomato will soothe the pain of a boil and will also speed its recovery.

Slightly red cheeks looks healthy and very appealing. Eating tomatoes regularly gives you a pink and glowing complexion, so eat up!

Hair Tip
If ever your hair has absorbed foul odour which you are not able to lose despite shampooing it, a great way to neutralize this odour and get rid of the smell would be to apply undiluted tomato paste to your scalp. Leave on for fifteen minutes and then wash it off. Your hair should be odour-free, and dandruff free.

Foods That Help to Improve Eyesight .

Based on information provided by the U.S. National Eye Institute, results of nutrition and eye health food studies have shown that consuming certain foods provides ocular nutrition. In other words, using food to improve eyesight and nutrition to improve eye health has been proven by studies. Here is a list of food to improve eyesight:

  • Ocular nutrition with collard greens, kale and spinach.

  • Studies show that eating foods rich in carotenoids is associated with reduced risk of developing age-related macular degeneration. Foods rich in carotenoids are leafy green vegetables such as spinach, collard greens and kale. Macular eye nutrition becomes increasingly important as we age.

  • Ocular nutrition with green vegetables and corn.

  • Another study on ocular nutrition has shown a reduced likehood of developing cataracts for persons with diets higher in lutein and zeaxanthin. Foods high in these two carotenoids are broccoli, collard greens, corn, green peas, kale, romaine lettuce, spinach, turnip greens and zucchini. Lutein is also found in egg yolks.

Persons with diets high in lutein and zeaxanthin were also less likely to need cataract surgery. In another study, persons ages 40-59 with macular eye nutrition diets high in lutein and zeaxanthin may experience reduced risk of developing adult macular degeneration.

  • Ocular nutrition with blueberries, apricots and bilberries.

  • Besides the studies reported by the National Eye Institute above, other studies exist on ocular nutrition and foods that improve eye sight.

Eating blueberries has been associated with the reduction of eye fatigue. Blueberries are related to cranberries, and both also help the body resist urinary tract infections.

Apricots are rich in nutrients such as beta carotene and lycopene that help promote good vision. Beta carotene is converted as needed by the body to vitamin A, an important antioxidant that resists oxidative stress damage to cells and tissues, including the eye lenses. Continued oxidative stress may result in the development of cataracts or damage the blood supply to the eyes and lead to macular degeneration.

Bilberries grow on small bushes and were used by British pilots to improve their night vision and eye health night vision. Fresh bilberries and bilberry jams would be sources of this ocular nutrition food. Bilberry seems to improve eye health by increasing the blood supply to the eyes (smoking, for example, decreases the blood supply to the eyes). The substance in bilberry that nourishes eye tissue is called anthocyanosides.

  • Ocular nutrition with cold water fish and Omega 3 fish oil.

  • Cold-water fish such as salmon, tuna, cod, haddock as well as sardines are rich in the healthy Omega 3 oils. For example, Eskimos have almost no incidence of open-angle glaucoma with their diet rich in Omega 3 cold-water fish which maybe is the best foods for optic nerve. Omega 3 is also associated with numerous other health benefits relating to improving heart health, arthritis symptoms relief and lowering chosterol. It is certainly one of the best foods for clear eyesight and eye health.

Top 5 ways to trick yourself into being happy.

There are a lot of unhappy people running around these days. The 21st century has started out rather unfortunately in a number of ways. It began with the whole Y2K computer scare, followed shortly after by the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Then, much of the world became entrenched in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, where terrorism techniques have become more sophisticated and effective than ever before. Not to mention the global economic meltdown that's affected nearly every nation on the planet. Yes, there are plenty of reasons for people to be unhappier than ever. However, people continue to crave happiness; luckily, we can actually make our own happiness when our lives and surroundings are short on it.

1: Go Work Out For Once
Even a single workout can have a noticeable effect on your mood. Aerobic exercise triggers the release of pleasure-inducing neurotransmitters in the brain. While exercise has been proven to improve one's mood, its duration has recently been found to last a lot longer than anyone previously thought. A 2009 study presented at the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine found that the post-exercise "glow" can last as long as 12 hours, happily affecting your entire day

2:use your money to do something good for some one else.
People like to congratulate themselves when they commit a selfless, altruistic act, like donating to charity or helping a stranger in need. While these things certainly are nice and make the world a cheerier place, there's actually isn't any such thing as a truly selfless act. It sounds a bit cynical, but MRI studies show that when we do an act of kindness for someone else, we're actually getting something in return -- pleasure. The brain's reward center, the region that's activated when something good happens to us, also comes to life when we do something nice for someone else. This means chemicals that produce happy feelings -- like dopamine -- flood our brains when we cover the toll for the person in the car behind us or pick up an extra cheeseburger for a homeless guy when we're out at lunch.

3: Try the 5 Percent Trick
Sometimes, a lack of happiness comes from feeling overwhelmed by all of the tasks we face in our personal and professional lives. Leisure time is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Even when we're not at work, we devote very little of the time we spend at our own discretion to our passions .. Instead, we spend our time off taking care of all of the things that accumulate in our lives while we're working, like cleaning the house or going to see a doctor. These things still need to be done, however, and when they're allowed to accumulate they tend to look more like a mountain than a laundry list. Taking things a little at a time helps you gain a happier outlook on all the stuff you've got going on in your life.

4: Treat Yourself to a Tasty and Healthy Meal
Simply put, fresh foods are happier foods than processed foods. How would we know? It turns out that the chemicals in your brain that create feelings of happiness are produced by some of the foods we eat. Foods that contain complex carbohydrates -- like legumes and whole-grain breads -- slowly release glucose, which provides lasting energy and protects against chronic fatigue. Folate, which is found in foods like spinach, is a B vitamin that's essential to the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that stabilizes mood. The pleasure-inducing chemical dopamine contains tyrosine and phenylalanine, a pair of amino acids that can be found in protein-packed foods like fish, meat and beans.

5: Hang Out With Smiling People
When you see another person smiling, what emotion do you imagine he or she's experiencing? Is it safe to assume that person is happy? Of course it is. We humans associate smiling with happiness, and if we associate with happy people, we can become happier as well.
